Syllabus
This is the first time we are reintroducing Chinese to Newton Country Day School. Some of the course details will be fine tuned during the actual classes. For those of you who would like to know ahead of times what you will be learning., here is the planned syllabus for the first semester. Actual individual class outline will be available here online the night before the class. Please check back.
Beginning Chinese Course Objective
Obtain basic knowledge of Chinese read, write & speak abilities; learn to pronounce pinyin (Romanization Chinese pronunciation); gain insights and develop interests in Chinese culture and art.
Course Syllabus
Week 1 – Introduction to Chinese language, pronunciation tones. (outline)
Week 2 – Introduction to Chinese dialects, pronounciation initials. (such as the W in Wang, B and J in Beijing, Sh and H in Shanghai) (outline)
Week 3 – Introducing Chinese holidays, pronounciation finals. (such as ang in Wang, ei and ing in Beijing, ang and ai in Shanghai). (outline)
